The Director of Goethe Institute Eleonore Sylla said he is pleased to bring 'Made in Ghana II' as a contribution to Ghana's Independence Day celebration at the launch of the Burger Highlife "Made in Germany II" last Tuesday.
Speaking at the launch, Sylla said the reason for this Burger Highlife Concept is to bring all highlife musicians together and to educate Ghanaian musicians to spend much time in experimenting.
She added that its impact is to encourage the youth to be themselves but not to be discouraged by someone in what they are willing to do to bring the perception and mentality of Ghanaian music.
She indicated that Ghana and Germany have many things in common among which are football and Burger highlife, and added that Ghana made a great impact on the world with the organisation of the just ended African Cup of Nations.
She noted that the public will have the opportunity to interact at the Meet the Artists’ session with artists like Lee Dodou, Ben Brako, Pat Thomas, George Darko, Charles Amoah, Bob Fiscian and McGod on the 5th and 6th of March this year.
Sylla said the actual concept will be at the National Theatre on the 8th of March planned by the musicians to be kaleidoscope of new and innovative sights and sounds.
Lee Dodou, one of the pioneers of Burger Highlife tradition and an experiment singer before he left the shores of Ghana in 1979 thanked the sponsors for helping bring back highlife music into the country.
He said he was very excited to have the chance to perform with all the artist and hope this concept becomes a memorable one.
Born in Accra on the 20th of May 1952, with a B A (Hons) in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ghana, Legon and a B A (Hons) Media Communication Studies from East London University, Ben Brako said he was very excited that highlife music has taken a centre stage in Ghanaian music and will be very spectacular.
He also used the platform to encourage all Ghanaians to see highlife music at its best.
